What software do I need to have in order to use the templates?
Unless noted in the product description, all template files are delivered as layered PSD files. To use the template files, you must have Photoshop CS or newer. Your template files will arrive as .zip archives, which will require the use of a Zip file extractor (such as WinZip or Stuffit). Instructions for using your templates are provided in PDF format, which requires either Adobe Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader program.
What kinds of edits can I make to the template files?
Most files are fully layered, meaning that you can change text, fonts, colors, adjust sizing and placement, and add or remove elements as you see fit. Some templates have elements which are not editable (or are partially editable), which will be noted in the item’s description. Feel free to get as creative as you’d like with the template files!
Do I have to be a Photoshop expert to use the templates?
While you certainly don’t need to be an expert, a working knowledge of at least an Intermediate level is generally required. Most of the template files use Clipping Masks, so a knowledge of how to work with these is beneficial. You will receive basic instructions with your download that include a general overview of using Clipping Masks, changing colors, etc, but it is definitely helpful if you are already familiar with the software on at least an Intermediate level. Unfortunately we are unable to offer advanced one-on-one support beyond the scope of the instruction booklet, but will be happy to direct you to any number of online Photoshop training and tutorial sites if you need them, and we also have some Video Tutorials that you can check out!
I need some help using my files. What should I do?
We now have Video Tutorials! We will be adding additional tutorials soon, so stay tuned if you don’t see quite what you were looking for.
Where should I get my files printed?
Most of the templates in the shop are formatted using either WHCC, MPixPro or Miller’s specifications, as listed in the product descriptions. However, all files may be altered to print at any lab of your choosing.
We use and recommend the following labs:
For long-run, press-printed products such as brochures, booklets, postcards, business cards, stationery, etc we recommend:
Please make sure that you check your template file’s specifications against those of your lab. You are ultimately responsible for ensuring that your files are appropriately sized and formatted for your lab or printer of choice.
Are font files included in my download?
Due to licensing restrictions, font files are not provided with any template download. A list of fonts used in each template will be included with your download, along with links to purchase or download the font if you choose. Not all fonts used are free, and in this case, Free or System alternative suggestions will be provided. It is not required that you purchase any font in order to use the templates — you may use any font you wish.
Who owns the copyright to the templates?
Just like you, as a photographer, own the copyright to your images, brandsushi retains all copyrights to the designs and templates sold on this site. You are purchasing a license which allows you to use, modify and sell the finished product to your photography clients. Technically, what you are purchasing is a limited commercial license that allows you to use the designs (and/or text contained in the design if applicable), make changes to the designs, and sell the finished product to your commercial photography clients, or use the finished designs to market your photography services to clients (meaning: you cannot sell the digital files themselves, claim the template designs as your own work, or share/copy the template files). A more comprehensive license statement is available here (and a copy will be included with your download), but feel free to contact us if you have any specific usage questions.
Are the text and images shown in the template samples included in the final downloaded product? May I use or change this text?
All text is included as shown in the product images, however images and logos used in the sample product photos are for placement purposes only and are not included in your final product as they are copyrighted works. You are free to use the text that is included on your marketing materials and product templates, or edit it as you see fit!
May I use your sample product images to market the templates on my website or blog?
The sample photos used in our product images are copyrighted works, so unfortunately we are unable to allow the sample images shown on the site to be redistributed or displayed by anyone other than brandsushi, which has been granted a license to use those images.
I’m a Graphic Designer/Design Firm/Advertising Agency/Cardmaker. May I purchase brandsushi templates to create products for my design clients?
At this time we only license our templates to professional photographers for use with images that were personally taken by them or their studio. We do offer custom design services with extended licensing options that may suit your needs — give us a buzz and we’ll be happy to discuss your project.
How do I download my files?
After you complete the checkout process you will be directed back to the order confirmation page on this site, where you will be able to download your products. You will also receive two emails. The first email is an order confirmation – SAVE THIS EMAIL; it’s your receipt. Should you ever need to contact us about your order, you will need your receipt number, located in this email. You’ll also receive a second email containing a link to download your product(s), just in case you missed it on the Order Confirmation page. This link will remain active for 72 hours (3 days), after which point it will expire.
My download link expired/doesn’t work/I didn’t get my link. Can I have a new one?
If there is a problem with your download link, please contact us and we will be happy to reissue or resend a download link manually. Before contacting us about a missing download link, please do two things: 1) wait at least 2 hours after your purchase. Links are sent out automatically in the order in which checkout was completed, so occasionally there may be a backlog of orders being processed. Most download links are received within a few minutes of purchase, but please give it a bit of time before requesting a new link; 2) Check your Spam or Junk mail folder, as occasionally mail clients may mistakenly direct your links there. Also, remember that after checkout is completed you will be redirected to the Confirmation page which will have your links available for download instantly. When you have completed payment through PayPal, don’t close the browser window — you’ll be directed back to your order confirmation page and your download link(s) will be available for instant download at that time.
If your download link expires, we are happy to reissue a link for you. Please keep in mind, however, that we only reissue expired links once, after which point there is a $5.00 service charge for issuing additional links (expired links must be reactivated and reissued manually). For this reason, it is important that you download your products as soon as possible to avoid additional fees.
My computer crashed. Can I get another copy of my product?
Yes, we are happy to reissue a product due to hardware failure with proof of purchase (receipt). Contact us and we’ll be glad to assist you. Of course, we recommend that you keep backups of your original template files for just this reason. ; )
I have another question not addressed here.
Tough luck! No, just kidding. Contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you!
